Playback Nigeria Theatre Company uses innovative, participatory activities to curate creative space for dialogue and social action. As a registered non-governmental organisation, the theatre company and the other arm of Playback Nigeria work with institutions, iNGOs, Government, Schools and other bodies seeking creative ways to engage in the issues that most impact the society. We aid in the of strategies to achieve individual and collective goals.
Playback Nigeria Theatre Company uses art-based methodologies that are grounded in asset-based, experiential learning processes which encourage new perspectives to emerge. Our strategies include facilitation of workshops and interventions, popular education practices, mediation, conflict transformation, and restorative justice. Therapeutic arts strategies such as Playback Theatre, Performance installations, embodied performance, visual art, storytelling, improvisation and role play are also used, as we believe access to creative forums is essential to the wellness and health of every individual and community.
Playback Nigeria Theatre Company works with trained actors to take performances to communities. Mostly performing playback theatre which is based on the stories of audience members from different communities. Stories are enacted on the spot to promote the right to be heard, bring group concerns to the surface, and stimulate dialogue by making different perspectives visible. The arm also performs other types of theatre works including scripted and improvised performances.
Playback Theatre is interactive and spontaneous, primarily focused on the stories of the community. In theatres, workshops, and a wide range of educational and organizational settings, Playback Theatre draws people together and allows fresh perspectives.
The Playback Nigeria Theatre company also handles our Child Media and Theatre Development program which provides extensive media and theatre training platforms and creative expression for children to showcase their artistic and creative skills. This includes the Annual International Children’s Day of Broadcasting, Playback Nigeria Theatre Festival, Annual Children’s Theatre Camps, Children’s Theatre Clubs, in-school theatre programs.

You will be exposed to the Art and Act of Improvisational Theatre, Playback Theatre, Forum Theatre, Theatre for Advocacy, Spoken Word, and lots more.
